Why can’t I use standard hygiene spunlace for industrial wipes?+

Standard hygiene spunlace (25–50 gsm, parallel-laid, viscose or viscose-PET blend) fails in industrial wipe applications for three reasons: (1) insufficient GSM for multi-pass durability; (2) viscose dissolves or severely weakens under solvent loading (IPA, acetone, MEK); (3) parallel-laid structure lacks CD tensile for multidirectional wiping force. Industrial wipe substrate solves all three through higher GSM, polyester-dominant fibre, and cross-lapped web structure.

What fibre should I specify for IPA/acetone-loaded industrial wipes?+

100% polyester is the correct specification for wipes loaded with IPA, acetone, MEK, or other ketone/alcohol solvents. Viscose fibres swell significantly in these solvents and lose 60–80% of dry tensile strength — producing a wet wipe that tears and leaves fibre contamination. Polyester is dimensionally stable in solvents and retains ≥75% of dry tensile when wet.
