Spun bonding is one of the most common ways to make polymer-laid nonwovens. The melt spinning technique is used in the spunbond non woven fabric process. Spin pumps drive the melt through a spinneret with many holes, and the air is supplied to the filaments through the quench air ducts positioned beneath the spinneret block. A continuous supply of supplemental room temperature air is also necessary. The filaments and mixed air from the spinnerets and cooling chambers are sucked down the line’s whole working width by ventilator-generated under-pressure.
The filaments are fanned and entangled as they pass through a venture (high-velocity low-pressure zone) to a distribution chamber. Finally, the filaments are deposited on a moving sieve belt as a random web. The turbulence in the airstream causes randomness; however, there is a minor bias in the machine direction due to the moving belt’s direction. Therefore, the part below the sieve belt helps the filaments lay down better. The spun-bonded web is then transported to the bonding zone by a conveyor belt. Depending on the material and required attributes in the final fabric, the web is then thermally, mechanically, or chemically attached. For many applications, thermal point bonding is the most frequent approach.
Bonding and web formation:
The filament bundles are pneumatically deposited onto a moving belt, forming the web. The ratio of fibre creation to belt speed determines the weight of the fabric. Individual filaments must be separated before reaching the belt for the web to attain optimal uniformity and coverage. Separating filaments is performed by using an electrostatic charge, mechanical, or aerodynamic forces. We use an available bonding approach (thermal) to produce bonding. The surface temperature of the calender rolls must be selected suitably to obtain good characteristics with the retention of optimum hand/feel in the final fabric.
