Bicomponent Nonwoven Fabric Manufacturer India — Bico Spunbond PE/PP & PE/PET
Bicomponent nonwoven fabric manufacturer India — Favourite Fab produces PE/PP, PE/PET, PP/PET, and Co-PET bico spunbond in 12–80 GSM for hygiene coverstock, desiccant pouches, technical filtration, automotive composites, and industrial bonding applications. Bicomponent nonwoven fabric uses core-sheath filaments where two different polymers form each fibre — the sheath bonds at lower temperature than the core, enabling ultra-soft thermal bonding, higher strength-to-weight ratios, and application-specific performance that single-polymer nonwovens cannot match.

What Is Bicomponent Nonwoven Fabric
Bicomponent spunbond is produced from continuous filaments where each fibre contains two distinct polymers in a core-sheath architecture. The outer sheath polymer has a lower melting point than the inner core. During thermal bonding, only the sheath melts and fuses at fibre crosspoints — the core remains solid, maintaining fibre integrity and tensile strength. This produces a fabric that is simultaneously soft (from the sheath) and strong (from the core) — performance that single-polymer nonwovens at the same GSM cannot achieve.
The four main bico architectures in industrial use: PE/PP (polyethylene sheath / polypropylene core) — premium hygiene coverstock standard; PE/PET (polyethylene sheath / polyester core) — higher strength for desiccant and technical nonwoven; PP/PET (polypropylene sheath / polyester core) — highest tensile for geosynthetics and filtration; and Co-PET/PET (copolyester sheath / PET core) — 100% polyester bico for automotive and high-temperature filtration. Each architecture delivers different performance suited to different end uses.
Favourite Fab manufactures all four bico architectures at its Agra facility — allowing hygiene OEMs, desiccant converters, filtration manufacturers, and automotive Tier-1 suppliers to source multiple bico grades from a single supplier with consistent quality, ISO-certified production, and COA per batch.

PE/PP Bico — Premium Hygiene Coverstock
PE/PP bicomponent spunbond is the global standard for premium baby diaper, sanitary pad, and adult incontinence coverstock. The polyethylene sheath gives the softest possible skin contact feel among all spunbond grades. PE/PP bico at 12–22 GSM with hydrophilic finish achieves liquid strike-through below 2 seconds per EDANA 150.3 — the benchmark for premium coverstock.
PE/PET Bico — Desiccant and Technical Nonwoven
PE/PET bico combines PE sheath softness and low bonding temperature with the higher tensile strength and thermal stability of a PET core. Specifically suited for desiccant pouches (silica gel, clay, molecular sieve sachets) that must be heat-sealed at high speed without pinholes or fabric failure. The PET core provides 30–50% higher tensile vs PE/PP at equivalent GSM — preventing pouch distortion during filling, shipping stress, and humidity cycling.
Applications by Grade
- PE/PP bico (12–22 GSM): Baby diaper coverstock, sanitary pad topsheet, adult incontinence coverstock, feminine hygiene. Hydrophilic or hydrophobic finish on request.
- PE/PET bico (15–40 GSM): Desiccant pouch fabric (silica gel, clay, molecular sieve), heat-seal medical packaging, technical hygiene applications needing higher tensile.
- PP/PET bico (20–80 GSM): Geosynthetic composite reinforcement, industrial filtration support scrims, carpet backing, roofing membrane composites.
- Co-PET/PET bico (20–80 GSM): HVAC pleated filter media bonding layer, automotive acoustic composites, industrial filter bag support scrim, nonwoven laminate bonding.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is bicomponent nonwoven fabric?
Bicomponent (bico) nonwoven uses core-sheath filaments where each fibre contains two distinct polymers. The outer sheath melts during thermal bonding — fusing fibres at crosspoints. The inner core remains solid, maintaining tensile strength. The result is a fabric softer and stronger than single-polymer nonwoven at the same GSM. PE sheath for softness and low-temp bonding; PP, PET, or Co-PET core for strength and thermal stability.
What is the difference between PE/PP and PE/PET bicomponent nonwoven?
Both use PE sheath (soft, bonds at 120–135°C). Core differs: PE/PP uses polypropylene core (lighter, lower cost, standard tensile — best for hygiene coverstock). PE/PET uses polyester core (30–50% higher tensile, temperature-resistant to 150°C — best for desiccant pouches and technical filtration). Seal conditions on packaging machinery are identical for both.
What GSM bico is standard for baby diaper coverstock?
12–15 GSM PE/PP bico for ultra-thin diapers. 15–18 GSM for standard premium diapers. 18–22 GSM for extra-soft coverstock. All hygiene grades with hydrophilic finish — achieves liquid strike-through below 3 seconds per EDANA 150.3.
Can bicomponent nonwoven be used for desiccant pouches?
Yes. PE/PET bico at 15–25 GSM is the standard substrate for silica gel, clay, and molecular sieve desiccant pouches. The PE sheath heat-seals at 120–130°C on high-speed pouch machinery. The PET core resists pouch distortion during filling and shipping. MVTR is selected by GSM to match the desiccant absorption rate requirement.
What bico grade is used for automotive applications?
Co-PET/PET bico (20–80 GSM) for automotive acoustic composites and HVAC filter media — 100% polyester, bonds at 110–130°C, stable in service to 180°C. PP/PET bico (20–80 GSM) for geosynthetic underbody protection composites.
What is the MOQ for bicomponent nonwoven from Favourite Fab?
MOQ is 500 kg per grade, GSM, and finish. Sample orders (5–10 kg) for qualification and machinery trials — dispatch within 3–5 working days. Container-load pricing for 40ft HC available for all bico grades.
