Shoe Cover Raw Material — Nonwoven & CPE Film Supplier India 2026
Disposable shoe covers protect floors, contain contamination, and meet hygiene protocols in hospitals, cleanrooms, food processing plants, real estate site visits, and home service calls. The Indian market is broad — from low-cost ₹1 PP spunbond covers used in real estate to ₹15+ medical-grade CPE film covers for cleanrooms and surgery. Raw material selection determines unit cost and end-use suitability.
This guide covers the three main shoe cover material types — PP spunbond nonwoven, CPE film, and PP+CPE laminate — with specifications, MOQ, pricing, and supply options from Favourite Fab in India.
Three Types of Shoe Cover Raw Material
| Type | Material | Use Case | Cost Tier |
|---|---|---|---|
| PP spunbond shoe cover | 17–35 GSM PP spunbond | Real estate, food service, salon, factory | Low |
| CPE film shoe cover | 30–80 micron CPE film | Hospital, food processing, wet environment | Medium |
| PP + CPE laminate shoe cover | 20 GSM PP + 25 micron CPE | Surgical, cleanroom, premium medical | High |
| Antistatic ESD shoe cover | PP spunbond + carbon stripe | Electronics cleanroom, semiconductor | High |
Material 1 — PP Spunbond Shoe Cover
The most common type in India. Same PP spunbond used for bouffant caps, but at higher GSM for foot protection.
Specifications
- GSM: 17–35 GSM (mostly 22–30 GSM for shoe covers)
- Width: 1.6m–2.4m (custom slit per machine)
- Colour: White, surgical blue, green, light blue
- Cost: ₹95–140/kg
- Cost per shoe cover: ~₹0.85–1.30
Pros: Lowest cost, breathable, easy to sew/seal. Cons: Not waterproof — fails in wet environments.
Material 2 — CPE Film Shoe Cover
CPE (chlorinated polyethylene) film is fully waterproof, soft, and quiet — preferred for medical, surgical, and food-processing environments where wet contamination is the concern.
Specifications
- Thickness: 30–80 micron
- Width: 1.0m–1.6m
- Colour: Blue, white, transparent
- Texture: Embossed (anti-slip) or smooth
- Cost: ₹160–230/kg
- Cost per shoe cover: ~₹2.40–4.20
Pros: Fully waterproof, soft, suitable for clinical environments. Cons: Less breathable, slightly more expensive than spunbond.
Material 3 — PP + CPE Laminate Shoe Cover
Premium product — soft cloth-feel exterior (PP spunbond) bonded to waterproof CPE film inner. Best of both — comfortable, durable, and waterproof. Standard for surgical and pharma cleanroom use.
Specifications
- Construction: 20–25 GSM PP spunbond + 25–30 micron CPE film
- Total weight: 50–60 GSM equivalent
- Width: 1.6m
- Cost: ₹220–290/kg
- Cost per shoe cover: ~₹3.80–5.20
Material 4 — Antistatic ESD Shoe Cover
For electronics manufacturing and semiconductor cleanrooms, shoe covers must dissipate static charge. Achieved via:
- Carbon-fibre stripes woven into PP spunbond
- Antistatic polymer additive in CPE film
- Conductive thread sewn through the cover
Surface resistivity target: 106–109 ohm/square. Cost: ₹260–380/kg fabric, ~₹4.20–6.50 per shoe cover.
Elastic Band Specifications
Same as bouffant caps — round elastic 1.5–2 mm diameter, polyester-rubber. Casing sewn or ultrasonically sealed at the perimeter. Cost: ₹0.15–0.25 per shoe cover.
Pricing & MOQ Summary
| Material | Cost (₹/kg) | MOQ | Lead Time |

Frequently Asked Questions
Are PP spunbond shoe covers waterproof?
No. PP spunbond is breathable but not waterproof. For wet environments (operating theatres, food processing, wet floor cleaning) use CPE film or PP+CPE laminate covers instead.
What’s the cheapest viable shoe cover construction?
22 GSM PP spunbond + round elastic. Total raw material cost ~₹0.85 per cover. Suitable for short-wear real estate, salon, and dry-floor service applications. Not for hospital or wet environments.
How long do CPE film shoe covers last in use?
CPE film shoe covers are designed for single-use, typically 30 minutes to 4 hours of wear. Walking on rough surfaces causes pinholes within 1–2 hours. For longer wear, use PP+CPE laminate.
Can I print my logo on shoe covers?
Yes — flexo printing is possible on PP spunbond before cap conversion. Single-colour logos are most common (1–2 colours). Custom printing requires 2,000+ kg minimum order. CPE film printing is more limited.
What machinery is used to make shoe covers?
Automatic shoe cover machines run 60–100 covers per minute. They unwind fabric, cut to pattern, sew or seal the elastic, and stack finished covers. PP spunbond machines and CPE film machines have different sealing methods (ultrasonic for PP, heat seal for CPE).
Is recycled PP suitable for shoe cover production?
Possible but not common. Recycled PP spunbond has more colour variation and slightly lower tensile strength. Acceptable for low-end industrial/painter shoe covers. Not used in medical or food applications.
