Co-PET Bicomponent Nonwoven Fabric — Low Melt PET Bico Grade India
Co-PET bicomponent nonwoven fabric — Favourite Fab manufactures copolyester sheath / PET core bico nonwoven in 20–80 GSM for HVAC filter media bonding, automotive acoustic composites, industrial filter bags, and high-temperature nonwoven laminate applications. Co-PET bico nonwoven is 100% polyester — the Co-PET (copolyester) sheath bonds at 110–130°C while the standard PET core maintains structural integrity in service up to 180°C. Co-PET bico delivers low-temperature bonding combined with 100% polyester composition, high service temperature, and 3D heat moldability — without any polyolefin content.

What Is Co-PET Bicomponent Nonwoven
Co-PET (copolyester) is a modified polyethylene terephthalate where a comonomer is introduced into the PET polymer chain to reduce the crystalline melting point from ~255°C (standard PET) to 110–130°C. In Co-PET/PET bicomponent fibre, this low-melt copolyester forms the sheath; standard PET forms the core. During thermal bonding, the Co-PET sheath melts and fuses at fibre crosspoints at 110–130°C — the PET core remains solid.
The critical advantage over PE-sheath bico grades: after bonding, Co-PET/PET bico is 100% polyester. No polyolefin content means higher service temperature (180°C continuous vs 100°C for PE/PP), better chemical resistance, 100% PET recyclability, and superior dimensional stability under mechanical and thermal load. For automotive, HVAC, and industrial filtration where polyolefin contamination is unacceptable — Co-PET bico is the correct material.
Co-PET bico also enables 3D thermal molding of nonwoven composites. In automotive interior manufacturing, multi-layer composites containing Co-PET bico can be heat-pressed in molds at 120–140°C to form shaped door panels, trunk liners, and acoustic barriers — the Co-PET sheath bonds all layers permanently in the molded shape with excellent shape retention through automotive service temperatures.

Applications
- HVAC filter media: 30–60 GSM Co-PET bico as thermal bonding layer between filter media layers in HVAC pleated filters, panel filters, and AHU filters. Co-PET bico fuses the media composite at 120°C during manufacturing, then remains dimensionally stable through operating temperatures up to 180°C. Preferred over PE/PP because PE/PP softens and delaminates above 100°C in high-temperature HVAC ducts.
- Automotive acoustic and thermal composites: 40–80 GSM Co-PET bico as bonding layer in underbody acoustic barriers, dash insulators, and engine compartment thermal shields. Heat-molded at 120–140°C into 3D shapes — Co-PET sheath bonds layers permanently in the molded geometry. PET core maintains shape stability through underbody temperatures up to 160°C.
- Industrial filter bags: 20–40 GSM Co-PET bico as support scrim in industrial pulse-jet filter bags for cement, pharmaceutical, food processing, and chemical plant dust collection. Withstands repeated pulse-jet cleaning cycles at elevated temperatures (100–150°C).
- Nonwoven laminate bonding: Co-PET bico as interlayer bonding fabric in multi-layer technical nonwoven laminates. Controlled bond temperature (110–130°C) allows precise bonding without damaging heat-sensitive substrate layers in the composite.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Co-PET bicomponent nonwoven?
Co-PET (copolyester) bicomponent nonwoven uses a modified low-melting PET copolymer as sheath surrounding a standard PET core. Co-PET sheath melts at 110–130°C enabling thermal bonding. After bonding, fabric is 100% polyester — no polyolefin content. Means higher service temperature (180°C), better chemical resistance, 100% PET recyclability, and superior 3D heat moldability vs PE/PP bico grades.
Why use Co-PET bico instead of PE/PP bico for HVAC filters?
PE/PP bico softens at 100–110°C service temperature — unacceptable in HVAC ducts reaching 150–180°C. Co-PET bico is stable to 180°C continuous service. Additionally, Co-PET bico is 100% polyester — bonded filter composite avoids complications of mixed polyolefin+polyester waste in industrial recycling at end of filter life.
Can Co-PET bico be heat-molded into 3D shapes for automotive parts?
Yes. Multi-layer composites containing Co-PET bico can be press-molded at 120–140°C into shaped automotive interior components — door panels, trunk liners, dash insulators, acoustic barriers. Co-PET sheath bonds composite layers permanently in the molded shape. PET core maintains dimensional stability and shape retention through automotive service temperatures.
What filter applications use Co-PET bico?
HVAC pleated filter media uses Co-PET bico as the thermal bonding layer. Industrial pulse-jet filter bags use Co-PET bico as support scrim providing dimensional stability through high-temperature cleaning cycles (100–150°C). Pharmaceutical and food-grade dust collector bags use Co-PET bico because 100% PET composition avoids polyolefin extractable concerns in clean manufacturing.
What is the service temperature limit for Co-PET bico nonwoven?
Co-PET bico maintains structural integrity up to 180°C continuous service — significantly higher than PE/PP bico (100–110°C) and PE/PET bico (150°C). The bonded Co-PET sheath does not re-melt until its softening point (~130°C) is exceeded. For service temperatures above 180°C, consider PTFE or glass fibre composite alternatives.
What is the MOQ for Co-PET bico nonwoven from Favourite Fab?
MOQ is 500 kg per grade and GSM. Sample rolls (5–10 kg) for thermal bonding and composite trials — dispatch within 3–5 working days. Container-load pricing for 40ft HC available for HVAC filter manufacturers and automotive composite producers.

Co-PET Bico for Automotive Acoustic Composites
Co-PET/PET bicomponent at 40–80 GSM is the specified bonding layer in molded automotive acoustic and thermal composites. 100% polyester composition with 180°C continuous service temperature solves the polyolefin limitations of PE/PP bico in underbody and engine-bay environments.
Automotive Acoustic Insulation Applications
- Underbody acoustic barriers: Multi-layer Co-PET-bonded composite molded at 130°C — survives road temperature 150°C in service. Replaces PE/PP bico that delaminates above 100°C.
- Dash insulator panels: 50–80 GSM Co-PET bonding layer between fibrous acoustic core + decorative face. Heat-molded to dashboard contour without delamination over vehicle lifetime.
- Engine compartment thermal shields: Co-PET bonded glass+PET composite handles 160–180°C engine bay temperatures.
- Trunk acoustic mats: 40–60 GSM Co-PET bonding for trunk liner laminates with 3D molded geometry.
Why Co-PET Beats PE/PP for Automotive
PE/PP bico softens at 100°C — fails automotive Tier-1 thermal-cycle test (TST). Co-PET bico stable to 180°C continuous, recyclable in PET stream (vs mixed polymer waste), and approved by Tier-1 acoustic suppliers including Autoneum, Adler Pelzer, and Faurecia for European OEM platforms. Favourite Fab Co-PET grades meet FMVSS 302 flame test on request.
