Favourite Fab is a trusted airlaid nonwoven fabric manufacturer India, supplying high-absorbency airlaid pulp nonwoven engineered for premium hygiene cores, food pads, table linens, and industrial wipes. Our airlaid nonwoven combines fluff pulp with thermoplastic binder fibres or latex emulsion to create a lofty, highly absorbent, soft fabric capable of holding 8–15 times its own weight in liquid — making it the workhorse absorbent layer for sanitary napkin cores, panty liners, adult incontinence pads, food absorbent pads, and disposable napery. With ISO 9001 certified production, MOQ-friendly batches from 500 kg, custom GSM and SAP-loaded variants, and 24-hour quote turnaround, we serve hygiene OEMs, food packaging converters, and disposables manufacturers across India and 25+ export markets at competitive wholesale pricing.

What is Airlaid Nonwoven Fabric?

Airlaid nonwoven is a dry-formed pulp-based fabric in which short fluff pulp fibres (typically 2–5 mm cellulose) are dispersed in an air stream, deposited onto a forming wire, and bonded into a uniform sheet. Unlike wet-laid tissue, airlaid uses no water in web formation, allowing thicker, lofty, three-dimensional structures with excellent absorbency, softness, and bulk. Bonding is achieved by one of three routes: thermal bonding (with bicomponent binder fibres), latex bonding (with acrylic emulsion), or multi-bonded (combining thermal and latex). Standard airlaid GSM ranges from 40 to 300 GSM, with widths up to 3000 mm. SAP-loaded airlaid integrates super-absorbent polymer particles directly into the pulp matrix, achieving liquid uptake of 30–50 g/g — the gold standard for ultra-thin sanitary core constructions and premium adult incontinence cores.

How Airlaid Nonwoven is Manufactured

Airlaid manufacturing starts with bales of bleached softwood fluff pulp fed into a hammermill or fiberiser that defibrates the pulp into individual short fibres. The fluff is conveyed pneumatically to a forming head, where binder fibres (typically PE/PP or PE/PET bicomponent at 8–15% loading) and optionally SAP particles are blended in a controlled air stream. The fibre-air slurry is deposited onto a moving forming wire under suction, building up a uniform web at the target GSM.

The web is consolidated through one of three bonding stations: (1) Thermal bonded (TB) — the web passes through a hot-air oven at 130–145°C, melting the PE sheath of binder fibres and fusing fibre intersections; (2) Latex bonded (LB) — acrylic latex emulsion is sprayed or printed onto one or both surfaces, then cured in a hot-air oven; (3) Multi-bonded (MB) — combines thermal binder fibres with surface latex coating for the highest strength. SAP-loaded airlaid uses dedicated SAP dosing units integrated into the forming head. After bonding, the web passes through a calender for thickness calibration, then optional surface treatments are applied. The web is wound to jumbo masters, slit, and rewound. Each batch is QC-tested for GSM, absorbency, retention capacity, wet tensile strength, and SAP loading before release.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the absorbency of airlaid nonwoven?

Standard thermal-bonded or latex-bonded airlaid absorbs 8–15 times its own weight in liquid. SAP-loaded airlaid (with 20–60% super-absorbent polymer integration) absorbs 30–50 g/g, ideal for ultra-thin sanitary and incontinence cores.

Is your airlaid FDA food-contact compliant?

Yes. Our food-grade airlaid meets 21 CFR food-contact requirements and is widely used for meat, poultry, fish, and produce absorbent pads.

What is the difference between thermal-bonded and latex-bonded airlaid?

Thermal-bonded (TB) airlaid uses bicomponent binder fibres melted by hot air — softer hand, lower binder content. Latex-bonded (LB) uses acrylic emulsion sprayed onto the surface — higher wet strength, slight surface stiffness. Multi-bonded combines both for maximum strength.

Can SAP be integrated into airlaid?

Yes. SAP loadings from 10% to 60% can be integrated directly into the airlaid web during forming, eliminating separate core construction steps and enabling thinner, more flexible final products.

What GSM range is available?

40–300 GSM for standard airlaid; 100–600 GSM for SAP-loaded grades.

What is the minimum order quantity?

500 kg for stock SKUs; 1000–2000 kg for SAP-loaded or custom airlaid.

What is the lead time?

12–20 days for stock GSM; 18–28 days for SAP-integrated and custom-treated airlaid.

Logistics, Packaging & Export

Standard packaging is jumbo rolls on cardboard cores wrapped in stretch film and LDPE liners, palletised on heat-treated wooden pallets compliant with ISPM-15 phytosanitary requirements. Slit rolls are stretched-wrapped individually and stacked on pallets with corner-board protection. Each pallet carries a barcoded label with batch number, GSM, width, length, gross/net weight, and PO reference. Container loading plans optimise volumetric and weight utilisation in 20-foot and 40-foot containers, with typical loadings of 18–22 tonnes per 40HC depending on roll dimensions.

Domestic dispatch is via TATA, Ashok Leyland, and Volvo trucks with GPS-tracked transit, ex-Agra to any pan-India destination within 2–7 days. Export consignments depart FOB Mundra (preferred for west-coast buyers), FOB Nhava Sheva (Mumbai-region), or FOB Mundra/Pipavav as customer specifies. We coordinate with customer-nominated freight forwarders or recommend our network of CHA partners. Documentation is dispatched electronically within 48 hours of vessel sail-out; original hard copies follow by courier where required.
