What Is Silica Gel Pouch Nonwoven Fabric
Silica gel desiccant pouches use nonwoven fabric as the sachet wall material. The fabric must allow moisture vapour to pass through (high MVTR) while retaining the silica gel granules inside the pouch. It must also withstand the heat-sealing process that closes the pouch on automated sachet machines. PE PP bicomponent spunbond is the preferred material because its polyethylene sheath bonds cleanly at 120–140°C without melting through or leaving pin-holes.
PP spunbond is used for lower-cost desiccant pouches sealed at higher temperatures, or for tea-bag style knot-closure sachets that do not require heat sealing.
